June 20, 2023 – Kanata, ON – Canadian North is pleased to announce the appointment of Shelly De Caria to the role of Interim Vice President Sales, Marketing & Distribution effective June 30, 2023. Born and raised in Kuujjuaq, Nunavik, and having lived in Ottawa since 2008, Shelly joined Canadian North in 2013 from Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, the national representational organization that protects and advances the rights and interests of Inuit in Canada. Inuktitut as her second language, proud of her Inuit heritage and passionate about empowering people in northern communities, Shelly will continue to bring enthusiasm and confidence to the leadership of Canadian North. In her role as Associate Vice President, Sales, Marketing & Communications, Shelly worked closely with the current Vice President Sales & Marketing, she brings extensive experience with key stakeholders, customers & communities. Along with the strength of her team and full support of the Executive and the Board of Directors, her focus on this important portfolio will give the airline strong, continued momentum.
With Shelly’s appointment, Canadian North bids farewell to Jim Ballingall, Vice President Sales & Marketing. Jim will be retiring from his role with the airline at the end of June. Jim was a former executive of Bradley Air Services Limited (operating as First Air) who rejoined Canadian North in 2022 to support, guide and mentor the Sales and Marketing teams’ Go Forward Plan. Jim’s passion and energy as a leader were always evident and we thank him for his many efforts since coming onboard with us last year.
