Requirements
ATR Pilots

ATR Captain:

  • 2,500 hours total time
  • 1,000 hours multi-engine Pilot in Command experience
  • Transport Canada Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL)
  • Valid Transport Canada Group 1 Instrument Rating
  • Valid Transport Canada Category 1 Medical Certificate
  • Prior CAR 705 experience preferred
  • Prior experience on ATR42/72 aircraft (or similar) preferred
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Current valid passport and Canadian Permanent Resident Card if you are not a holder of a Canadian passport
  • All required visas or travel documents allowing you to freely travel unrestricted
  • Ability to communicate in Inuktitut a definite asset
  • Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Identity Card in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada

ATR First Officer:

  • 750 hours total time or 250 hours total time for graduates of a recognized aviation degree/diploma program
  • Transport Canada Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) with completion of either a valid IATRA or SARON and SAMRA exams
  • Valid Transport Canada Group 1 Instrument Rating
  • Valid Transport Canada Category 1 Medical Certificate
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Current valid passport and Canadian Permanent Resident Card if you are not a holder of a Canadian passport
  • All required visas or travel documents allowing you to freely travel unrestricted
  • Ability to communicate in Inuktitut a definite asset
  • Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Identity Card in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada
B737 Pilots

B737 Captain:

  • Before a pilot will be considered for an upgrade from First Officer to Captain, they must hold a valid Airline Transport Pilot Licence and have obtained a minimum of 4,000 hours total flight time for B737 upgrade
  • Additionally, one of the following requirements shall be met:
    • 1,000 hours on Company aircraft; or
    • 500 hours on Company aircraft plus 500 hours on turbine powered aircraft over  17,000 lbs. MTOW; or
    • 1,000 hours on turbojet or turboprop aircraft over 17,000 lbs. MTOW.
  • Once the company finalizes a list of qualified pilots, the following process will be completed prior to awarding positions:
  • Training records will be reviewed.
  • Training and check pilots may be asked for input.
  • Candidate’s employment record will be reviewed.

B737 First Officer:

  • Minimum 1,000 hours total experience, 1,500 hours preferred
  • 750 hours fixed-wing multi-engine time
  • Transport Canada Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) with completion of either a valid IATRA or SARON and SAMRA exams
  • Transport Canada Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) is preferred
  • Valid Transport Canada Group 1 Instrument Rating
  • Valid Transport Canada Category 1 Medical Certificate
  • Jet time considered a definite asset
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Current valid passport and Canadian Permanent Resident Card if you are not a holder of a Canadian passport
  • All required visas or travel documents allowing you to freely travel unrestricted
  • Ability to communicate in Inuktut a definite asset;
  • Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Identity Card in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada.

  • Pilots who fly for Canadian North after a period of one month of continuous employment will receive a comprehensive medical benefits plan
  • Medical benefits cover: prescriptions drugs and medicines, emergency services, hospital accommodations, vision care, medical supplies, and paramedical practitioners
  • After six months of continuous employment Pilots will receive dental benefits
  • Emergency out of country care and travel assistance are also covered

  • After six months of continuous employment pilots, their friends and families will have access to Interline benefits (ZED agreement)
