Canadian North Partners with Iqaluit Amateur Hockey Association to Expand Access to Youth Hockey

Youth in Iqaluit are honing their skills on the ice thanks to the Iqaluit Amateur Hockey Association – and we’re proud to partner in support of their work.

The IAHA, a non-profit organization supporting minor hockey in Iqaluit, attracts an average of 250 players between the ages of 6 – 17.

As anyone with children in hockey knows, barriers to playing the sport include the expenses. While IAHA fees cover essentials like goalie equipment, practice gear, uniforms, ice fees, insurance and other administration expenses, playing tournaments adds another level of costs.

This year, IAHA launched their “Financial Barrier-Free Hockey Season.” This aims to enable more players to participate in tournaments across the East.

Corporate partners like Canadian North help IAHA reduce the financial barriers for its players. We share IAHA’s vision for making hockey more accessible for youth in Iqaluit as part of our mission to make lives better in the communities we serve. Canadian North has supported IAHA for more than five years, serving as is its official airline sponsor. Our partnership plays a pivotal role in team travel, especially important during tournament season.
