Canadian North and Edmonton Elks Team Up for Youth Football Camp in Yellowknife

Earlier this June, as part of our partnership with the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League, we were proud to support a youth flag football camp in Yellowknife.

The event brought together more than 50 local youth for a day of football, learning, and community connection alongside members of the Elks organization, including current player Jared Brinkman. The team also had the opportunity to visit three different schools across the city and meet with kids and teachers alike.

The camp offered something for everyone, with participants having the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the game, further develop their skills, receive autographs, take photos with Brinkman, and gear up with Canadian North summer merchandise.

During their visit to Yellowknife, members of the Elks organization were also treated to an aerial tour of the region by Canadian North Captain Jeff Bowden. The flight provided a unique perspective of the North’s breathtaking landscapes and offered a firsthand look at the communities we proudly serve.

Partnerships like this are an important part of what we do at Canadian North because they bring our mission to life. They demonstrate the power of sport to bring people together, foster community connections, and help young people build confidence and lifelong skills.

A special thank you to the Edmonton Elks, Football NWT, and the Yellowknife community for helping make this event such a memorable experience for all the youth who participated.
