The next generation of pilots are on the ground now, and we’re providing scholarships to help get them in the air.
As an Inuit-owned organization, Canadian North has a mission to meaningfully improve the lives of our people, our customers and the communities we serve. As part of helping our communities flourish, we’ve been giving scholarships for 17 years to students who live in Nunavut or Northwest Territories.
For example, we’re working with First Nations Technical Institute and Mount Royal University to support students pursuing their Commercial Pilot’s license. The post-secondary aviation programs provides hands-on flight training for Indigenous and non-Indigenous students interested in pursuing a pilot’s licence or working in the aviation industry. The curriculum meets Transport Canada regulations and standards for flight training.

We rely on the instructors, who know their students best, to identify the ones showing dedication, commitment, resilience and strong leadership skills, as well as financial need. Their recommendations resulted in the latest scholarships going to Patrick Crevier, Colton Olafson, Todd Ryan and Russell Seiler from First Nations Technical Institute, and Robert Butterwick and Sidney Nichol from Mount Royal University.
Congratulations, everyone! See you in the air!
