Scholarships support Inuit women in the workforce

As an Inuit-owned organization, Canadian North has a mission to meaningfully improve the lives of our people, our customers and the communities we serve.

As part of helping our communities flourish, we’ve been giving scholarships for 17 years to students who live in Nunavut or Northwest Territories and to Inuit women in the workforce developing their careers.

For example, we’re working with AFOA Canada, a not-for-profit association that helps Indigenous people better manage their communities and organizations. Its Certified Aboriginal Professional Administrator (CAPA) program aims to improve the knowledge, skills, and professional development of senior administrators in Indigenous communities.

We rely on the instructors, who know their students best, to identify the ones showing dedication, commitment, resilience and strong leadership skills. Their recommendation resulted in the latest scholarship going to Clara Noah.

As part of our employee development program, we helped Clara transition from Customer Service Agent to Flight Attendant. She has undertaken the CAPA program to eventually transition into administrative work.

Congratulations, Clara! We look forward to your long and successful career with Canadian North.
