Notice: Limited capacity at Canadian North’s Ottawa and Iqaluit Cargo Facilities

April 16, 2021 – Due to the COVID-19 situation in Iqaluit, Canadian North’s capacity to handle and move cargo in Ottawa and Iqaluit has been significantly impacted.

Between now and Monday, April 19, we do not have the capacity at our Ottawa cargo drop-off facility to take on new shipments. We ask that you please hold any new shipments until next week, allowing us to mitigate the situation and make room in our facility, coolers and freezers to assure that your shipment is handled with the appropriate care.

Our operations in Iqaluit are also operating at a much reduced level of capacity. We are planning to operate all scheduled passenger flights out of Iqaluit today and over the coming weekend, but expect that cargo will move at a slower than usual pace into communities in the Baffin Region.

Some cargo was moved today from Ottawa to Iqaluit but at a reduced scale. All other cargo movement into Iqaluit has been cancelled for today. We anticipate more cargo flight cancellations from Ottawa destined for Iqaluit this weekend. However, we are working hard to ensure some cargo flights from Iqaluit to Baffin communities will be operated Saturday and Sunday.

These plans are subject to change. We encourage our customers to watch for email updates regarding their flights or contact us directly.

We will continue to prioritize food, medical supplies and other essential goods until such time that we are able to get back to operating at a normal capacity and our cargo backlogs have been cleared.

We sincerely thank our customers for their support and patience as we move through this and provide the services that are essential to your communities while ensuring everyone’s safety.
